  • Monday 5 June 2023 The Sun Shines for Everyone On Monday, children from Reception to Year 6 watched a play called The Sun Shines for Everyone. The play encouraged our children to take pride in their own heritage and history but also about the importance of celebrating and respecting difference. We must give an extra special mention to our Reception children who sat beautifully through the whole performance!

  • Monday 24 April 2023 Debate Mate @ SOAS On Tuesday 18th April, 19 of our Year 6 Debate Mate students attended the Debate Mate Cup at SOAS University of London.
  • Monday 24 April 2023 Earth Day 2023 Thank you to all who dressed up and donated money. All money collected will be given to our local tree planting charity based in Hackney -The Tree Musketeers. Pupils took part in many different activities for Earth Day such as; writing animal poems, researching and creating endangered animal fact files, writing songs and raps about climate change, plus an upcycling project.
  • Friday 31 March 2023 Spring House Afternoon Well done to Peridot who are this term's house point winners. They earned themselves a fun trip to 'Plonk Crazy Golf' at Borough Market. The other houses celebrated in style with a fun afternoon of sports, drama and puppet. They were treated to a fun show by a puppeteer and made their own sock puppets.
  • Friday 31 March 2023 Table Tennis Tournament Over the last 2 months Mr O'Shea and the head teacher of Mandeville had been organising a table tennis tournament for Rushmore, Mandeville and 2 other schools in the Hackney borough.
  • Friday 31 March 2023 Reception Classes at The Farm The Reception Classes had two fantastic days out at The Spitalfields City farm this week and last. They met some very friendly donkeys and a very sleepy old pig! Lots of fun was had by children and the adults who accompanied them.
  • Friday 24 March 2023 Wild City Winners! Congratulations to our wonderful Year 5 children and their teachers, who have won the Wild City Garden Design Competition.
  • Friday 24 March 2023 Science Week 2023 The theme for British Science Week 2023 is ‘Connections. There are examples of connections everywhere, whether that be in our bodies, in our gadgets or in the world around us. That’s what makes it such a wonderful science week topic! Our world is full of connections - connections in our bodies, with other people and to other countries. There are connections to other planets, between different animals in their habitats and even electrical connections that mean you can read this on your device.
  • Friday 10 March 2023 Year 3 Centre of the Cell Trip Year 3 visited the 'Centre of the Cell' to discover all the weird and wonderful things about genes and evolution!
  • Wednesday 8 March 2023 Year 2 Sharing Assembly Year 2 shared their learning about the Great Fire of London with pupils and parents on Wednesday this week. We were all super impressed by how much they knew and the very confident way in which they delivered their lines and performed the songs. Well done to all the children and adults involved in the wonderful production!
  • Tuesday 7 March 2023 World Book Day 2023 We are really proud of our reading culture here at Rushmore and nothing shows it off as well as on World Book Day. We have had a great day with games, activities, competitions, reading with other year groups and, of course, our visit from Mama G who mesmerised us with their amazing storytelling.
  • Friday 27 January 2023 Chinese New Year in Nursery This week the nursery staff and children had a wonderful time celebrating Chinese New Year. They set up a Chinese restaurant role play area, where they practised using chop sticks. They made lanterns and dragons and enjoyed some fortune cookies. It is year of the rabbit .

  • Friday 16 December 2022 Festive Lunch Elaine and her fantastic catering team treated children and staff to a very tasty festive lunch this week. Thanks to her and to all the lunch supervision staff who helped to make it a lovely event.
  • Friday 16 December 2022 Winter Wonderland A whole week of snowy grounds lent an additional festive feel to a very fun week in school.
  • Friday 16 December 2022 Staff Panto The very talented Rushmore staff treated the whole school to a fantastic, festive and very fun Panto on the last day of term. We had all the panto classics; villains, heroes, fairy tale characters and of course lots of audience participation. The children's 'It's Behind yous' were impressively deafening! What a wonderful end to a very busy term.

  • Friday 9 December 2022 Winter Fair 2022 A HUGE thank you to all the parents who organised and attended the winter fair last week with special thanks to Gemma who co-ordinated the event. With everyone’s help, they managed to raise a whopping £6598!!!
  • Friday 25 November 2022 Year 5 British Museum Visit Last week, year 5 visited the British Museum as part of their Ancient Egyptians topic. They were able to see mummies in real life and look at a replica of the Rosetta Stone.
  • Friday 25 November 2022 Year 5 Make Shadufs In art this week we have been designing and making our own shadufs (an ancient Egyptian water tool). We had to work in teams and use sticks we collected ourselves to build a functioning shaduf. It was a challenge but we had lots of fun and demonstrated great teamwork!
  • Friday 25 November 2022 Year 4 Visit The Museum of London Year 4 had a very enjoyable trip to the Museum of London where they learned more about the lives of early humans.
  • Friday 21 October 2022 Rowan Class Guildhall Visit Year 3 Rowan visited the Guildhall Art Gallery this week. They were fascinated by all the artefacts explored in their workshop which was run by an archaeologist. However, they were totally blown away when they stepped inside the real remains of Londinium's Roman amphitheatre!

  • Thursday 20 October 2022 Cycle League News Last week, some of the children from the cycle league took part in their first event - The Springfield Hill Climb! Each child started their race at the bottom of the hill and had to race individually against the clock. The hill, which typically takes the riders between 30 seconds to 1 minute to climb, is very steep so most children jumped off and ran with their bikes to ensure they got to the finish line in good time. Well done to all of the children that took part and special congratulations to Pepa, who came second.
  • Friday 15 July 2022 Summer Fair 2022 What a joy it was to see the school grounds teaming with happy children and their parents last Friday. Thank you to all of the parents, children and staff who did their part to get things set up on the day. Special thanks to Gemma Hitchon and her organising committee who have been planning the event for months to ensure things went smoothly. They raised over £5,000!!!
  • Friday 8 July 2022 Hackney Schools' Music Festival A massive well done to the 157 (wow!) Rushmore students who took part in the Hackney Schools Music Festival this week at the Round Chapel this week. We were brilliantly represented by Reception, Year 1, Upper Phase Choir and String Ensemble, as well as members of the outstanding Hackney Borough Youth Choir. It was wonderful to be back at the Festival in person, for the first time since 2019 - we can’t wait for next year!
  • Tuesday 7 June 2022 Instrumental Concerts Tuesday 24th May saw the return of our fantastic INSTRUMENTAL CONCERT, featuring 70 young musicians, 6 teachers, and an unlimited amount of musical talent and hard work. A massive well done to all of our brilliant, brave performers – watch this space for videos of our performances which will be made available to watch on the school website after half term.
  • Tuesday 24 May 2022 Cycle League News On Friday 11th February, Leo, Hafsah, Chinenye, Coco C, Hector G, Albert, Tom, Eesa, Rafe, Pepa, Purdy and Isla (from years 4 and 5) participated in the Circuit Race at Mabley Green.
