BULLETIN BOARD

Parents are reminded that the CAR PARK is for staff use only.  It should not be used for picking up or dropping off children. Thanks for your cooperation.

SCHOOL MEALS
Cathy is offering a choice of hot or cold meals this term. Children can choose from fresh filled baguettes, juice/healthy drinks and fresh fruit or the hot option of the day.

JEWELLERY IN SCHOOL

Small stud earrings are the only item of jewellery allowed in school. Very few children at Rushmore need to wear items of jewellery for religious reasons.  Please do not send your children to school in large diamante earrings or hoops as these will be removed.

The recent trend of earrings for boys has brought some problems into school. A small group of boys were wearing earrings to school as identification of belonging to a gang. This particular situation has been sorted out by Mrs. Lewis.

Parents/carers please support the school by respecting our school rules. If you have any concerns please see Mrs. Lewis.

HOMEWORK FROM SCHOOL

Homework is set regularly each week in school and although it is not compulsory we feel it is beneficial to our children. Homework does give children extra practice on what has been taught in class that week It provides an opportunity for parents to see whether their child understands what he/she has been taught and most importantly it provides an opportunity to develop good working habits.
If your child is telling you there is no homework PLEASE CHECK WITH THE CLASS TEACHER OR THE CLASSROOM ASSISTANT!

We will be setting science topic based work throughout the school in the second half of the spring term, which is in line with our new homework policy.
We have also given year 6 pupils a spelling rules book. This clearly shows children the rules of how to spell and is designed for parents to sit with their child/ren to help them spell.

MEDICINES IN SCHOOL

Parents/carers are reminded that trained staff will only administer ONE MEASURED DOSE in a day. This should be left in the main office clearly marked with your child’s name.

Healthy Packed Lunches
Many parents are taking care to put healthy foods into packed lunches.  We are talking to children about healthy sandwich fillers, not jam or chocolate spread.  Please do not put nuts into packed lunches as we have children with severe allergies to being near nuts, let alone eat them

POKEMON AND DUMMY LOLLIES ARE BANNED FROM SCHOOL PREMISES BECAUSE OF QUARRELS / THEFTS/TEETH ROTTING!

ATTENDANCE

We are continuing to monitor attendance and punctuality this term. There has been some improvement and there are a number of Year 6 pupils who have achieved 100% attendances last term.

We celebrate ‘best class’ attendance each week in assembly

REMINDER

Parents/Carers are reminded that children need to be dropped off in the morning and collected in the afternoon from the playground using either the Chatsworth Road or Rushmore Road entrances

P.E. KIT
Every child in school from reception to year six should wear a P.E. kit for sport. These are available from the school office. Parents/carers please make sure that your child’s p.e. kit is washed and ready for their session.

If you are not sure what day your child has p.e. please speak with the class teacher.

PARENTS/CARERS WITH BUGGIES
For Health and Safety reasons, we ask all adults with buggies or prams to park them outside the Infant building before they come in to collect children.
In the Junior building, we ask adults to wait until 3.40 pm when all the classes have exited the building before they take buggies along the corridor.
The Nursery staff will be supervising the opening of the side gate near the Year 3 classrooms at 9 am and 3.30 pm, so that adults with older children can get to the Nursery without walking through the narrow Junior corridor.
Thanks for your support in making the school safe for Rushmore children
